During this Walkshop participants had the opportunity to learn about a small lot in downtown Champaign that had been converted into a mini prairie ecosystem. Different groups in town help to maintain the small green space, including local Boy Scouts. Participants in the Walkshop learned about the plants that grew in the Pocket Prairie and also the way this space is used by the public. Some of the unintended uses include: being a late night smoking spot for a neighboring bar or a day time drinking spot for the local transient population. There is a small trail that one can walk through to view the diverse fauna that grow in the Pocket Prairie. Photographs by: Megan Roche
