One hundred buffalo shoes were passed out to participants during Arts in the Prairie in Sioux Center, IA. Participants were given a short narrative to consider as the traversed the terrain in their buffalo shoes. The narrative asked them to think about the people and animals that are not present as they walk across the recreation of a prairie. As they walked their shoes tore and fell apart, calling attention to falsity of these stand ins, the shoes and the prairie. Photographs by: Christina Chahyadi
